Magazines We Love: Part 1
lifeiscarbon® is going to be profiling a number of Scandinavian magazines that we love to read. The first of these is Acne Paper which is published twice a year by Acne*. Acne* are an interesting art/industry company that we'll be profiling in the near future.
Each edition of Acne Paper is created around one key issue - a timeless theme that in various ways touches all those working in creative fields. It's an eclectic yet coherent mix of portrait, fashion and art photography as well as interviews, memoirs and prose pieces. It is not a magazine about news or consumerism but about personal stories and experiences, and the essence behind the creative process. We particularly like the sparse and stylish layout of the magazine which reflects the Scandinavian aesthetics that we are keen to showcase. There seems to be no ambition to be edgy, but rather to unite different generations of creative minds.Despite the number of publications out there, Acne Paper has already begun to shape its own unique voice in the magazine market today.
Since arriving on the scene in August last year Acne Paper has become widely available in Scandinavia but has also managed to find distribution in 25 other countries. Issue #3 is out now so look for a copy in boutiques, galleries and department stores such as Barneys, Selfridges, Browns, Colette and Visionaire.
