Old New Borrowed and Black

Brands We Love: Part 3

Resterodsgirlboy

It all began in 1935 when the Mattson brothers, from the small village of Resteröd in Sweden, invested their life savings in a pair of used circular knitting machines from G.Stibbe Ltd. in England. The brothers then designed a range of underwear for men and women in a shed in their backyard and this, they say, is how the Resteröds Trikåfabrik was born.

What we love about Resteröds is the way that they have continued to produce their original range unchanged for 70 years (the fabric is still woven on the original machines) and have resisted the temptation to cheapen materials or manufacturing processes. Åke Hermansson, factory manager, still sets and repairs the twelve original circular knitting machines by hand.

That's not to say that Resteröds haven't kept up to date. lifeiscarbon® recently got a look at their Spring 2007 Collection and we've fallen in love with their modern range. A range inspired by the slim silhouettes of the 50's, 60's and 70's, made from new materials with subtle transparency and sheen and available in our favorite range of colors spanning black, white and grey.

Did we mention that We Love Black?

Resteröds’ modern range can be found at select outlets in Scandinavia, Germany, Netherlands and numerous stores in Japan (details can be found on their website). The company also recently opened up a couple of dedicated stores, one in PUB department store in Stockholm and another in Magasin du Nord in Copenhagen.
