We Love Black
Brands We Love: Part 1
The story of Swedish brand Koppartrans begins back in the 1940's, when the mining company Stora Kopparberg and shipping company Transatlantic merged together to form a new oil and gas company. The Shell Corporation took over Koppartrans in 1963 only to end up dissolving it sometime in the 70's. The old logo, a K with the head of a firebreathing beast, alluded to the refinery's eternal flame that was kept alight to burn off surplus oil.
Decades later in 1998, Per Eric Melinder and Anders Jansson chose the logo as the label for the first collection from their new clothing company. The original look and style of Koppartrans is inspired by the sort of workwear that petroleum workers at Koppartrans wore in the 50's.
Today, Koppartrans produces a range of jeans, shirts, t-shirts, jackets. coats, knitwear and underwear for men and women. lifeiscarbon® loves their style and, as many of us here love wearing monochrome, we rather like the fact that most of the current Koppartrans range is black, grey and white.
