Arne & Carlos: New Collection
What’s not to love about Scandinavian designer duo Arne & Carlos? We love their clothing, of course, with its mixture of traditional Scandinavian influences and modern silhouettes together with its kitsch sense of humor. We also love the fact that they have based their business in the rural district of Valdres in Norway (which also happens to be where lifeiscarbon® have their away-from-it-all mountain cabin). And we love their loyal use of one of our favorite Norwegian photographers, Bent René Synnevåg, and the zany choice of subjects and locations for their photo shoots.
Arne & Carlos have recently previewed their Sping/Summer 2007 Collection and announced that they are launching a new collection of luxury denim wear in 100% organic cotton. They claim that being surrounded by the beauty of the nature in Valdres has contributed to their desire to use the finest Japanese rope-dyed organic denim as well as recycled organic denim in their new collection of jeans, skirts, jackets and coats.
Arne Nerjordet and Carlos Zachrison, Norwegian and Swedish respectively, established Arne & Carlos in 2002. Drawing on their traditional Scandinavian influences and natural environment, they create visually striking designs infused with humor and femininity.
Located 190 kilometres north of Oslo in the Valdres region of Norway, Arne & Carlos' base in a disused railway station is their source of inspiration as well as a haven for peace and tranquility. There, Arne & Carlos can absorb the rich tradition of Scandinavian arts and crafts while adding their own personal inspirations ranging from Dolly Parton to gardening, cartoons and origami.
The Luxury Organic Denim collection will be launched in February 2007 and be on sale in Fall/Winter 2007-08. In the meantime, here are a selection of preview images from Arne & Carlos’ Spring/Summer 2007 Collection.
