Design Greenhouse

Sff

Once a year, hundreds of exhibitors descend on Stockholm to show off their latest designs. Whilst it may not be quite on the same scale as IMM Cologne, the Stockholm Furniture Fair, which opens next week, is catching up fast and there’s probably nowhere else that can match the same collection of up and coming Scandinavian design. Last years fair attracted a total of 40,167 visitors and saw interest from foreign exhibitors and visitors continue to grow - foreign exhibitors amounted to 38% of the total.

One of the highlights of the fair is Greenhouse, a specific event dedicated to independent designers and design schools. Greenhouse was started in 2003 as a springboard for young talent and as a way for independent designers to meet producers in the furnishing industry.

lifeiscarbon® favorites, TAF Arkitektkontor are behind the design of this year’s Greenhouse exhibition and are apparently working with themes such as multiplication, diversity and everyday materials.

German industrial designer Konstantin Grcic will be this year's Guest of Honour at the event and has created an artificial garden and meeting place for the event. Since 1991, when he set up Konstantin Grcic Industrial Design (KGID), Konstantin Grcic, 42, has developed furniture, lighting and other products for some of the biggest design houses, including Agape, Driade, Flos, Iittala, Krups, Lamy, Magis, Moroso and Muji.

lifeiscarbon® plans to be at the event and will be bringing you details of some of the up and coming design talent from Scandinavia.

The first four days of the event are reserved for trade buyers, architects, designers, suppliers and interior decorators but on Sunday the public get to run wild. For more details take a look at the Stockholm Furniture Fair website.
