New Norwegian Designs
Our friends at the Norwegian design store, Pur Norsk let us know about some interesting new designs they’re stocking. One of them is such a new design that it won’t officially be launched until later in the year. Somehow, Marianne and Lasse of Pur Norsk have managed to get hold of 12 examples of a new umbrella designed by Swims – the people who brought us designer galoshes. It includes some beautiful details and features Swim’s gorgeous trademark orange.
Pur Norsk are also stocking a few select items from Moods Of Norway, including their great looking retro style Weekend Bag (that happens to come with a tennis racket cover). Whilst we’re not huge fans of Moods Of Norway’s clothing, we do like their good looking range of bags (all of which feature their distinctive logo) and their fantastic boat and limo. More about those in a later post…
Moolight are another range of bags and a further new favorite of ours at Pur Norsk. After graduating from Central Saint Martins in London, Karianne Saether embarked upon a career as a graphic designer and for many years struggled to find a good bag for her much used laptop. Unable to find the right bag to match her style and her needs, she set out to design one herself and thus Moolight was born. As usual, we much prefer the designer’s own explanation of the idea behind her product:
“One day, a Norwegian designer told her friend of an idea she had: What people need are funky bags for their laptops. The friend and a Swedish guy liked the idea and took it to Buenos Aires. They roamed Argentina for a few months and learned the tricks of the cow trade. Meanwhile, on the other side of the world, the designer started sketching. This adventure resulted in the creation of our Moo bags. All the members of our herd are hand-made from the finest quality Argentinean leather in order to protect both your hardware and software.“
