It’s no secret that here at lifeiscarbon® we love black and even though it’s rather unoriginal, we do tend to wear black, black and more black everyday (it is after the unofficial uniform of most designers in Scandinavia). Since we’re always on the lookout for new t-shirts to add to our collection, we were delighted to discover Skuls from Norway.
At first glance Skuls looks like yet another website selling gear for black metal fans but on closer inspection it becomes clear that these are fictitious names of bands that don’t actually exist. Once the complex gothic fonts have been deciphered names like Haarföner, Örevarmer and Ransel become legible. Seemingly threatening names that actually describe rather mundane objects like a hairdryer, pair of earmuffs and a satchel.
The collection has been created by a group of nine designers including Ole-Marius Storfjel, Anders Röd Aakre, Eirik Seu Stokkmo, Robin Rengård, Trond Vestengen, Lars Håvard Dahlstrøm, Erling Norderud Hansen, Magnus Rakeng and our friend Kjetil Wold from Bleed. Other designs in the range include innocuous words like Pregnant, Office, Everyday and our favorite… Brussel Sprouts.
