Scandinavian Surface

Sc1

Given the dark days and cold weather in the Nordic region at this time of year, lifeiscarbon® is quite often on the lookout for ways to incorporate elements of nature and cheerful reminders of warmer seasons into its interior designs. Being surrounded by the ubiquitous white walls that Scandinavians seem to favor these days makes us grateful to have discovered the Norwegian design company Scandinavian Surface.

Based on the west coast of Norway in Bergen, Scandinavian Surface specialize in developing "patterns for any surface" - which so far includes fabric, wallpaper, building facades and interiors. Their current range of products includes seamless wall-to-wall decorations in a wide range of designs, laminated Melamin serving platters for snacks and hand-printed woven wool cushions. Take a look at a selection of their designs below:

The designers behind the range, Kristine Dybwad, Katrine Nylund, Ann-Tove Engenes and Åsne Midtgarden, initially studied art at KHiB in Norway before spending ten years working with exhibitions, applied arts and costume/set design prior to founding Scandinavian Surface.

Scandinavian Surface will be exhibiting at the Stockholm Furniture Fair (06-10.02.08) and have previously shown at Meuble Paris in France, MM Cologne in Germany, 100% Design in London and Designers Saturday in Norway.
