Icelandic Vintage Modern
AW 08 Sneak Peak - Photo by Óskar Hallgrimsson
Unlike some modern brands that may have retro fitted an illustrious past to their company history, the Icelandic fashion brand Andersen & Lauth is genuinely based on the heritage of being the country’s first tailor shop – having opened its doors back in 1934. These days the company’s collections are based on an eclectic mix of the quality and craftsmanship of the past with the vibrant style of the contemporary Reykjvik art and music scene.
Staying true to their heritage and signature look, Andersen & Lauth’s SS 08 collection is once again vintage inspired - the company having continued its journey through its archives to find outfits from the past that can be reinterpreted with a modern twist whilst still retaining their hallmark traditional craftsmanship.
Called The Libertine And The Lady, this season’s collection sees genders moving closer to each other: The men’s collection focuses distinctive tailoring, contemporary shirts and perfectly cut suits whereas the latest collection for women is a romantic journey through time. Mixing vintage with modern and hand made fabrics with high technology techniques. Featuring voluminous silhouettes in luxurious jersey with fine gauge knitted garments, styled in layers and mixed with vintage embroideries, antique leather and white denim. Color shades range from white to beige and gold to silver, with occasional highlights of bubblegum and turquoise.
