Long before launching her own brand, Ida Pyk had already gained a notable reputaion within the Swedish fashion industry having worked for magazines such as The Daily News, Bon Magazine and Swedish Elle. Model, writer, provocateur and most recently fashion designer, Ida Pyk´s main aim appears to be to comment on the times in which we live.
Contemporary statements are a recurrent theme in her designs and were very much the basis of her first collection. “I was anorexic, but I am okay now” emblazoned on an oversized vest, grabbed much media attention back in 2009. Ida Pyk showed her first collection “Peace, love and narcissism” in 2009 at Fashion Rocks in Stockholm. Elle Magazine named her Best Dressed Women for her fashion statements in the same year and in August 2010 Ida Pyk took home the New Designer of the Year award from the Swedish Fashion Council.
Ida Pyk´s latest collection, Descended Angel, is a dedication to the Swedish author and illustrator, Kerstin Thorvall. Take a look below at selected images from the lookbook.
Born in Ystad, Sweden in 1985, Ida traveled extensively as an adolescent and lived for extended periods of time in the USA. Upon returning to Sweden, she moved to Stockholm but has subsequently lived in Los Angeles before moving to Paris where currently resides.
