What began in 2008 as a collaborative project by four fellow students from a product design program in Norway has grown into a fully fledged design collective that´s recently been getting notable media attention following a successful showcase at Salone Satellite in Milan.
Intended as a common way to promote its members as individual designers, Strek Design Collective comprises of Jørgen Platou Willumsen, Fredrik Wærnes, Stian, Korntved Ruud and Nicolai Gulliksen. Take a look below at a selection of interesting new work from Strek Design Collective:
OTO by Fredrik Wærnes. Coffee pot made of stainless steel and oak. The placement of the handle is inspired by old fashioned coffeemakers, when it was important to distance the hand from the fire.
RAK by Fredrik Wærnes. Café chair made of birch and steel. Industrial meets traditional wood craftsmanship. The chair consists of only five parts, thereby making it easy to produce.
Dingle by Nicolai Gulliksen. Bench designed for public spaces where people need only sit for short periods of time. The detail on the end includes a hook for hanging of bags or coats.
W1 and W2 by Nicolai Gulliksen. Lamp series in which all parts are hand turned. Both the reading lamp and the small pendant lamp are made of birch and textile cable.
Hola Bandola by Jørgen Platou Willumsen. A series of cabinets, Ohh, Ahh and Ehh, intended as useful everyday characters. Various openings, handles and pegs create different expressions and give identity to the objects.
Cone Heads by Jørgen Platou Willumsen. Vases and carafes forming a family of characters inspired by humor.
Circus by Stian Korntved Ruud. A lamp intended as an extension of the VHS-concept for the living room in which cold aluminum is replaced by warm oak.
Erik and Gerda by Stian Korntved Ruud. Table and height adjustable stool made of oak and birch. Construction inspired by Scandinavian-design from the 60's.
