Dedicated to Scandinavian Aesthetics, lifeiscarbon® is an ongoing curation of art, design and fashion from Scandinavia.
Established in 2006, we are a creative collective based in Oslo, Norway. Some of us are artists, some of us are designers, some of us are writers, some of us are photographers and some of us would like to be one of these but actually work in far less interesting fields in order to earn our daily crust. What we have in common is that we are all dreamers. lifeiscarbon® was created as a way do some of the things we’ve always dreamed of doing but until now have never had the courage to do.
Most of us have spent too long in our respective careers not creating or producing anything particularly worthwhile and spent most of that time taking from society and the environment without ever giving anything back. Through lifeiscarbon®, we are determined to rectify that situation. We hope that our various projects will actually create something positive for people, society and the environment and that eventually there will be a reward attached.
The lifeiscarbon® website neither carries advertising nor accepts any financial income for its content or coverage. Perhaps we are being naive but by sticking to this principal we believe that we will force ourselves to create something genuinely interesting, useful and desirable that will generate funding in the future. We cling to the belief that being ‘right’ will be rewarded in the long run.
Founded with a mission to foster and promote creative endeavours, Éditions du LIC is a small independent book publisher established by us in 2012. Specialising in the publication of provocative contemporary titles by emerging avant-garde photographers whose work explores the boundaries of the medium, most Éditions du LIC titles are debut volumes by young photographers previously either unpublished, self-published or only published in zines.
All books published by Éditions du LIC are clothbound hardback volumes that use the best offset printing and the highest quality materials. Print runs are strictly controlled and are divided between numbered Limited Editions and signed Art Editions. All of our titles are available direct from the Éditions du LIC online store or from select independent bookshops worldwide.
